On February 26, 2013, Intermediate Unit 1 honored 37 schools from Fayette, Greene, and Washington counties receiving the Keystone Achievement Awards. This award is given by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to schools meeting Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) toward the No Child Left Behind goals for two consecutive years. Also on hand to congratulate these schools were State Representative Pam Snyder; Kristy Smydo of Edit Scholoarship Consultants, LLC; Chuck Crouse; and under the direction of Christie Solomon, the McGuffey High School Choir.
